4. What is QuickTime? | |
|
QuickTime is a cross-platform media format that we use to play audio and video. You can find out about it in detail on the Apple Website.

|
5. How can I watch Quicktime video with Windows 98 or Linux?
|
Plug-in solutions with the free, open-source Firefox browser are being investigated. In the meantime, selected video from the site is available in Flash format. Flash plugins are available for both Windows 98 and Linux operating systems. |
|
|
6. What if I can't play the video?
|
There are a few reasons why this might happen. [Site is currently in Beta Testing]
a.) You don't have the QuickTime 7 plugin.
Solution: For Windows, please go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/preview/, to download the plugin. You do not need to provide your email to get the download. After download is complete, double-click on the file which is installed to your desktop by default: "QuickTimeInstaller.exe" and follow the installation instructions. Must be running Windows 2000 or XP.
Solution: For Apple, please go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/mac.html, to download the plugin. You do not need to provide your email to get the download. You will need to be running OS X 10.3.9 or greater.
b.) There are too many people connected. Bandwidth (the amount of data that can be sent to people connecting to the page at any one time) is limited. Increasing bandwidth and decreasing file sizes are two goals of the site.
Solution: (1) Try again later. (2) Stream the audio instead. The video is generally only an excerpt, while the audio is the full-talk.
c.) Your internet connection is not fast enough.
Solution: A lot of bandwidth is required to watch videos over the internet. If you have a good dial-up connection, it may allow streaming the video if you wait for the video to cache first (give the website time to send video to your machine). Audio should stream on dial-up. The video is generally only an excerpt, while the audio is the full-talk.
d.) Your computer does not meet minimum requirements.
To use QuickTime 7 and to play video in general, there are minimum requirements for your computers video card and processor.
Possible Solution: Public internet access generally has high-speed connections with newer hardware. Stream Flash video from video.google.com instead. Flash video is of lower quality, but will stream with fewer requirements than Quicktime.
Please contact us if you are unable to access the video or audio and tell us about your connection speed and hardware. If there is a large demand, we are considering other solutions, such as providing very low file size video (lower quality) or more still images online. Site is currently in Beta Testing. |

7. How do I change the screen size of the video?
|
On the video page, to the upper right of the video, you will see 3 buttons. These buttons change the size of the video. The far right button creates full-screen video playback.

10. How can I view RSS feeds from jkrishnamurti.org?
|
To view RSS feeds, you will need either a RSS reader, or a browser that supports RSS. There are free readers and browser options available for all operating systems.
If you have a Google Mail account, a very nice way of reading RSS feeds is the Google Reader.
Once you have RSS capability, go to Subscribe to see the currently available RSS feeds.
For information about subscribing to RSS in Windows, please read here.
LiveBookmarks is a feature supported by the free, open source Firefox browser. Firefox detects RSS feeds automatically. Look for an orange icon in the bottom right corner of the Firefox browser, and click on it to subscribe. The RSS feed then becomes a bookmark in your browser. Firefox is available on Mac, Linux and Windows.
The open source email reader, Thunderbird, allows treating RSS feeds more like email. Thunderbird is available for Mac, Linux and Windows.
Apple's Safari browser includes a blue RSS icon in the address bar which detects RSS feeds. Go to Safari > Preferences > RSS to set RSS options.
If you click an RSS link without a compatible reader or browser, XML code will appear in the page.
